Abstract
A great deal of attention has recently been given to Augmented Reality (AR), but a different view of how the digital and physical worlds can be merged involves not wearable displays but rather taking the connectivity, responsiveness, and context-awareness usually associated with mobile applications and situating them in the physical environment. In this paper I discuss how 3D displays and appropriate interaction models can be a central part of this approach and give some examples from my group’s research.
