Abstract

This paper proposes the fabrication of a spring of quasi-zero stiffness in the form of stacked bars made up of bundles of parallel spring wires connected at the ends. The optical device to be protected from vibrations is installed on a platform with such a spring. Such a design improves the vibration protection of the device by as much as 15% by reducing the natural frequency of the vibrational system and increasing the energy dissipation in the spring by as much as 20%.
