Abstract
Microstructured optical fibers offer the possibility to infiltrate the bio-sample into their capillary holes. Detection of the single-point mutation related to cystic fibrosis is an example in the field of medical diagnostics, while food safety was explored in the identification of a genetically modified organism in soy flour. The opportunity to enhance the sensitivity by the use of nanoparticles is discussed. Article not available.
