Non-uniform shape sensor based on FBGs inscribed in multicore optical fibers

Abstract

A multi-point curvature sensor composed by an array of fifteen wavelength multiplexed FBGs has been inscribed in a multicore optical fiber and is demonstrated in order to measure nonuniform curvatures with a resolution of 0.5·10−3 m−1.
