Material Removal and Thermal Impact of Femtosecond-Laser Polishing for Germanium-Based Freeform Optics

Abstract

Femtosecond laser-germanium interaction was simulated to predict the thermal impact of laser processing parameters. Initial experimental processing was carried out to investigate predicted thermal impact on germanium material removal and surface quality.
