Abstract

Nyquist pulse shaping is a means to achieve optical multiplexing at highest spectral efficiency. We review the various aspects of its implementation in optical communications. As an example we show transmission with 15 bit/s/Hz spectral efficiency or encoding of a single laser with 32 Tbit/s.
