Kerr Solitons with Tantala Ring Resonators

Abstract

We report Kerr soliton frequency combs, using tantala (Ta2O5) microring resonators. The low loss, high Q, low tensile stress, and high nonlinear refractive index (n2) of tantala enable a new platform for integrated nonlinear nanophotonics.
