Photonic planar meta-materials: spectral selectivity, “invisible metals”, magnetic mirrors and asymmetric transmission

Abstract

Planar metal films patterned on the sub-wavelength scale show stop bands and may be invisible, mimic negative index materials, act as magnetic mirrors and enforce asymmetry of light’s propagation in the opposite directions.
