High-Q Contacted Ring Microcavities with Scatterer-Avoiding “Wiggler” Supermode Fields

Abstract

We demonstrate novel, azimuthally periodic microcavities with core attachments. Radiative coupling between degenerate modes leads to imaginary frequency (Q) splitting and a scatterer avoiding high-Q supermode field with measured Q’s up to 258,000.
