Coherent and Squeezed Phonon States Generated in a Quantum Well by Ultrafast Optical Excitation

Abstract

We present simulations of the lattice dynamics in a quantum well driven by ultrashort optical pulses. Our calculations provide insight into the generation mechanisms for coherent phonons and show how squeezed phonon states can be excited.
