Polarization-Independent Cross-Phase Modulation Using Nonlinear Birefringent Fiber

Abstract

We report a new method for polarization-independent cross-phase modulation in nonlinear fiber. The technique utilizes fiber birefringence to eliminate polarization dependence. We successfully applied the technique for polarization independent demultiplexing at 80 Gb/s.
