Abstract
Long haul transmission optical fibers have become a technically matured necessity in current optical communication. In recent years novel functions have been implemented in optical fiber structures such that its material compositions, and waveguide structures have been optimized for sensing and imaging applications. In this invited talk, applications of hollow optical fiber in emerging science are reviewed including the speaker's group activities. Combination of Fourier optics and fiber optics has been successfully demonstrated for generating novel beams, which were applied in optical trapping experiments. Hollow ring structures have been implemented in photonic crystal structure to enhance birefriengence, and sensing capability. Article not available.
