Abstract

We present a nano-optomechanical system consisting of a 25-fg nanomechanical resonator embedded in a high-<i>Q</i> (<i>Q</i> <sub>o</sub>~10,000) defect nanocavity supported by 2D photonic crystal. Optically transduced flexural nanomechanical motion is demonstrated at 1 GHz.
