Joint Feature Issue of Optics Express and Optical Materials Express

Advanced Solid-State Lasers 2016

Submission Opens:1 November 2016

Submission Deadline: 15 December 2016

The Advanced Solid-State Lasers (ASSL) Conference combines significant research from the topical meetings formally known as Advanced Solid-State Photonics (ASSP), Advances in Optical Materials (AIOM), and Fiber Laser Applications (FILAS). This exciting program covers the latest advances in solid state materials based lasers, from materials science to laser and nonlinear sources and associated applications. Optical Materials Express has published special issues from the previous AIOM meetings in 2011 and 2012, and there were joint special issues in Optical Materials Express and Optics Express from the ASSL 2013, 2014, and 2015 Congresses.

Optics Express and Optical Materials Express will jointly publish papers from the ASSL 2016 Conference (30 October—4 November 2016). Submissions to are restricted to oral or poster papers accepted for the conference. All papers need to present original, previously unpublished work, and will be subject to the normal standards and peer-review process of the journals. To be eligible for publication, the paper needs to add substantial and/or significant new information to the original conference summary. Please see OSA's guidelines on conference papers, found here. The standard Article Processing Charges for these journals will apply.

Authors may choose to submit to either Optics Express or Optical Materials Express, but authors should recognize the difference between them and select the appropriate journal for submission. If the selection of the journal is inappropriate, the guest editors could recommend the authors to transfer to the other journal. Submissions to Optical Materials Express should emphasize the development, characterization, or applications of new materials for lasers and photonics. Manuscripts concerned with aspects of laser and photonics unrelated to materials should be submitted to Optics Express.

Manuscripts must be prepared according to the standard author instructions for submission to Optics Express and Optical Materials Express and must be submitted online through OSA's online submission system. When submitting, authors must specify that the manuscript is for the ASSL 2016 feature issue.
