Abstract
Large high-quality KTP crystals are grown from a high-temperature solution (the flux method). The laser damage threshold for these crystals is measured to be 3–3.5 GW/cm2 for 1.064-μm light and 2.5–3 GW/cm2 for 0.532-μm light. The damage thresholds and second-harmonic-generation conversion efficiency are comparable with and higher than those for hydrothermally grown KTP, respectively.
