Joint Feature Issue for Optics Express and Optical Materials Express

Advanced Solid-State Lasers 2015

Submission Opens:1 October 2015

Submission Deadline: 1 November 2015

The Advanced Solid-State Lasers (ASSL) Congress combines significant research from the topical meetings formally known as Advanced Solid-State Photonics (ASSP), Advances in Optical Materials (AIOM), and Fiber Laser Applications (FILAS). This exciting program covers the latest advances in solid state materials based lasers, from materials science to laser and nonlinear sources and associated applications. Optical Materials Express has published special issues from the previous AIOM meetings in 2011 and 2012, and there were joint special issues in Optical Materials Express and Optics Express from the ASSL 2013 and 2014 Congress.

OSA's journals, Optics Express and Optical Materials Express, will be teaming up to publish papers from the ASSL 2015 Congress (4-9 October 2015) in a joint Feature Issue. Submissions to the Feature Issue are restricted to oral or poster papers accepted for the Congress. All papers need to present original, previously unpublished work, and will be subject to the normal standards and peer-review process of the journals. To be eligible for publication, the paper needs to add substantial and/or significant new information to the original conference summary.

Authors may choose to submit to either Optics Express or Optical Materials Express, but authors should recognize the difference between them and select the appropriate journal for submission. If the selection of the journal is inappropriate, the guest editors could recommend the authors to transfer to the other journal. As for Optical Materials Express, submissions will emphasize the development, characterization or applications of new materials for lasers and photonics. All other topics from the ASSL Congress will be better suited for Optics Express. The standard Article Processing Charges for these journals will apply.

Papers will appear in their respective journals and will be published online upon acceptance. Additionally, a combined table of contents of all published papers in Optics Express and Optical Materials Express will later appear in OSA Publishing. A joint introduction to the feature issue will be published in both journals.

Manuscripts must be prepared according to the standard author instructions for submission to Optics Express and Optical Materials Express and submitted online through OSA's online submission system, When submitting, authors must specify that the manuscript is for the ASSL 2015 feature issue.
