Feature Issue for Optics Express

Light, Energy and the Environment

Submission Opens:1 December 2016

Submission Deadline: 15 January 2017

This feature issue will comprise expanded papers from the 2016 OSA Light, Energy and the Environment Congress, held 14-17 November 2016, in Leipzig, Germany. This comprehensive Congress examines the frontiers in the development of optical technologies for energy production, transmission, monitoring, and use. At the Congress, updates on the use of optical and photonic approaches to monitor both energy production and the effect of energy usage on the environment will be augmented by developments in six collocated meetings:

  • Fourier Transform Spectroscopy (FTS)
  • Hyperspectral Imaging and Sounding of the Environment (HISE)
  • Optics and Photonics for Energy and the Environment (E2)
  • Optical Nanostructures and Advanced Materials for Photovoltaics (PV)
  • Optics for Solar Energy (SOLAR)
  • Solid-State Lighting (SSL)

The feature issue will be published in the Energy Express dedicated section of Optics Express. All papers must present original, previously unpublished work, and will be subject to the normal standards and peer-review process of the journal. To be eligible for publication, a manuscript needs to add substantial and/or significant new information to the original conference summary. Appropriate attribution to the conference paper must also be given in the manuscript. Please see OSA's guidelines on conference papers.

Please prepare manuscripts according to the author instructions for submission to Optics Express and submit through OSA's online submission system. When submitting, authors must specify that the manuscript is for the feature issue on Light, Energy and the Environment (choose from the drop-down menu). Normal Optics Express Article Processing Charges will apply to all published articles.
