Abstract
A backward Stokes Raman generator based on deuterium is demonstrated that converts 400 mJ of energy per pulse at 532 nm to more than 200 mJ at 633 nm. The average output power is more than 1 W, the quantum efficiency is 65%, and the beam quality is excellent.
