Abstract
The temporal and spectral action of a nonlinear Fabry–Perot étalon on ultrashort light pulses is studied theoretically. For the first time to our knowledge, Fabry–Perot spectral filtering, group-velocity dispersion, and self-phase modulation are completely modeled. Both the transmitted and reflected pulses are computed in the temporal and spectral domains. Experimental results are presented to confirm the results of the theoretical model.
