Abstract
Several optimal spatial filters that could be used in a coherent imaging system to remove post-detection linear distortions are obtained and their performance assessed. It is shown that the minimum mean square error filter approximates the usual inverse filter for low-contrast images. The performance of these compensation filters is illustrated by use of examples of one-dimensional signals.
