Abstract
The distribution of modulation frequencies for radiation chopped by passing rectangular chopper teeth over a circular aperture has been determined. The ratio of aperture radius to tooth width that produces an amplitude of the fundamental equal to the amplitude obtained in the case of sinusoidally modulated radiation is calculated. The calculation reported here also establishes the ratio of aperture radius to tooth width that will result in an rms value of the incident radiation which is equal to that of sinusoidally modulated radiation.
