Abstract
Several cooperative studies of ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer photometric accuracy have been published, using different wavelength and absorbance ranges, samples, etc. By analyzing the results statistically, it is possible to estimate error contributed by the various sources, such as sample preparation, wavelength error, 100% line error, and linearity. Results are reported for a controlled experiment on Beckman DU spectrophotometers, in use under laboratory conditions with operator error controlled, and for a large sample of new DU spectrophotometers with all errors except instrument variations minimized.
