LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) is an optical remote sensing technology
that measures properties of scattered light in order to find range and/or other
information for a distant target. The technology has a wide variety of applications
in the fields of archaeology, meteorology and atmospheric environment, wind power,
military, imaging, 3D mapping, and even in geology and soil science.
