Feature Announcement for Biomedical Optics Express

Topics in Biomedical Optics from OSA's BIOMED 2016 Congress

Submissions Open: 1 May 2016

Submission Deadline: 30 June 2016

This feature issue will highlight the following topics presented at the 2016 OSA Biomedical Optics Congress (BIOMED):

  • Cancer Imaging and Therapy
  • Clinical and Translational Biophotonics
  • Optical Tomography and Spectroscopy
  • Optics and the Brain

Biomedical Optics Express welcomes submissions to this feature issue from the oral and poster presentations for the conference. While meeting participants are particularly encouraged to submit their work, this feature issue is open to all contributions pertaining to the topics above. All papers need to present original, previously unpublished work, and will be subject to the standard peer-review process of Biomedical Optics Express. To be eligible for publication, papers need to add substantial and/or significant new information to the original conference summary. Please see the new conference paper submission guidelines.

Submission of supplemental material is encouraged for this feature issue. Recognizing the importance of different types of supplemental materials, OSA has expanded its options so that authors can now provide external links to their large datasets, code, and design files in their manuscripts in addition to their visualizations and tabular data files (see Author Guidelines for Supplementary Materials in OSA Journals). Not only do these new types of supplemental materials enhance the quality of a manuscript, but they also enrich the experience for readers.

Manuscripts must be prepared according to the style guide for Biomedical Optics Express and must be uploaded through OSA's electronic submission system. When submitting, please select Topics in Biomedical Optics (TBO) from the feature issue drop-down menu. Normal Biomedical Optics Express Article Processing Charges will apply to all published articles.
