Abstract
A large number of articles on the subject of Room Temperature Phosphorescence (RTP) on solid substrates have recently appeared in the literature, confirming the fact that multiple lifetimes are involved for the analyte. This is not an unexpected observation, considering the heterogeneity of the filter paper substrate employed and the large number of possible interactions between the analyte (A) and substrate (S). A further set of interactions occurs between the spin-orbit coupler (C), included in the sample to promote inter-system crossing, and S and A, and all combinations of S plus A.
