Abstract
Flameless atomization is becoming accepted as a complementary technique to conventional flames for use in atomic absorption spectroscopy. Commercial nonflame atomizers have become available and depend upon electrothermal heating of a graphite ród, a graphite tube, or a tantalum ribbon to atomize the sample. Detection limits in the microgram per liter range can be expected with these devices. A recent review article discussed three of the flameless atomizers that are commercially available.
