Joint Feature Issues in Applied Optics and Chinese Optics Letters

Digital Holography and 3-D Imaging

Submission Opens: 1 August 2015

Submission Deadline: 1 September 2015

The OSA Topical Meeting "Digital Holography and 3D Imaging (DH)" was held in Shanghai, China, 24-28 May 2015. Feature issues based on the DH meeting series have been released by Applied Optics (AO) since 2007, and this year joint Feature Issues will be published in Applied Optics and Chinese Optics Letters (COL).

The Digital Holography and Three-Dimensional Imaging meeting provides a forum for science, technology, and applications of digital holographic, and three-dimensional imaging and display methods. Topic areas include interferometry, phase microscopy, novel holographic processes, 3D and novel displays, integral imaging, computer generated holograms, compressive holography, full-field tomography, and holography with various light sources including coherent to incoherent and X-ray to terahertz waves.

The feature issues are open to authors who presented at the DH2015 meeting but others are also welcome to contribute. Papers should present original, previously unpublished work. The feature issue editors will invite a small number of review and research papers to be published as Invited papers. All submitted papers, including Invited papers, will undergo peer-review. In general, short, original articles are appropriate to submit to COL, while Applied Optics publishes in-depth, original articles on work that is being explored fully and carefully. The feature issues will be published concurrently. A combined table of contents will be posted as a virtual issue in the OSA Publishing Digital Library in January 2016.

Topics to be considered are as follows:
  • Digital holography theory and systems
  • Diffractive optics
  • Optical data storage
  • Phase unwrapping and phase retrieval
  • Computer generated holograms
  • Compressive holography
  • Spatial light modulators for holography
  • Incoherent digital holography
  • Full-filed tomography
  • Optical Scanning holography
  • Holographic optical elements
  • 2-D and 3-D pattern recognition
  • Optical correlators
  • Three-dimensional imaging and processing
  • Three-dimensional display
  • Integral imaging
  • Stereo-matching and stereoscopic cameras
  • 2-D - 3-D content conversion
  • Shape and deformation measurement
  • Polarization analysis
  • Holographic imaging and microscopy
  • Holographic nanofabrication methods
  • Dynamic holography
  • Nonlinear holography
  • Dynamic 3-D imaging and visualization
  • Holographic optical micro-manipulation
  • Novel erasable/programmable recording media

Manuscripts for Applied Optics must be prepared according to the usual standards for submission; see the OSA Style Guide.

Manuscripts for Applied Optics must also be uploaded through OSA's electronic submission system, Prism. Please select the Information Processing Division and specify that the manuscript is for the Digital Holography and 3-D Imaging feature (choose from the feature issue drop-down menu).
