Abstract
An ADP solid Kerr cell subjected to an alternating voltage naturally makes a retardation modulator. An azimuth modulator with the ADP Kerr cell is easily made with the aid of simple polarization optics. Two types of azimuth modulators with an ADP Kerr cell, a Sénarmont-type and a circular polarizer-type respectively, are proposed and compared with each other. The construction of a tentative apparatus and a practical model is also reported.
