Abstract
A phase-conjugate wave A exp(−iϕ) exp[i(ky − ωt)] was generated in the forward direction in physically thin Na-vapor cells by a pump wave and a signal wave A exp(iϕ) with either pulsed or continuous laser radiation near the Na D line. High-order nonlinearities were readily observed with pulsed radiation, and waves with phase exp(Im ϕ) were observed up to m = ±8.
