Abstract
Efficient and tunable coherent ultraviolet (360–390 nm) generation in β-BaB2O4 crystals using type-I phase matching at room temperature is presented. The phase-matching angle is characterized with an alexandrite laser with a wavelength tuning range of 725–785 nm. The crystal angular bandwidth of 0.9 mrad-cm and spectral bandwidth of 1.15 nm-cm are also measured. UV output pulse energy of 105 mJ at 378 nm with 31% energy conversion efficiency is achieved.
