Abstract
A phase shift that is equivalent to large time delay for a low-frequency-modulated signal power in an erbium-doped fiber amplifier is measured. The relationship of measured values to signal-modulation frequency, signal wavelength, fiber length, and pump power is presented. A simple expression that relates phase shift to pump power is established by a fitting procedure.
