Abstract
A simple method for distribution of radio-over-fiber millimeter-wave
signals for gigabit wireless access is presented. By heterodyning two free
running and independent lasers, the millimeter-wave carrier can be freely
adjusted. The system complexity is shifted to the demodulator in the mobile
unit, where envelope detection and square law detection receivers are
studied. Transmission experiments prove this simple scheme to provide
broadband multimedia services with decent bit error rates.
