Abstract

Fluorescence, ultraviolet, and infrared spectroscopic data for some imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines and imidazo[1,2-a]pyrimidines have been correlated. Attention is drawn to the spectral characteristics of each fused ring system and the differences between them. The value of fluorescence spectroscopy in the quantitative analysis of nanogram quantities of these compounds is emphasized.
