Abstract
A simple method of modifying our General Electric x-ray apparatus and Leeds and Northrup chart recorder has been found to stop the chart recorder at the end of a goniometer scan even though the goniometer is left on unattended. After modification, the end of the goniometer scan corresponds to the end of the chart recording, thus avoiding confusion as to the two theta angles on the recording. Also, the chart paper is not wasted or unrolled unnecessarily when the operator is not present. The same type of modification was made on a Norelco x-ray diffractometer and spectrograph.
