Abstract
Laser damage thresholds are reported for two unpoled and one poled KTiOPO4 crystals under similar experimental conditions. For the TEM00 mode of a Nd:YAG laser, the fluence and power density values for the unpoled crystals (23–33 J/cm2 and 2–3 GW/cm2, respectively) were higher than for the poled crystal (10–17 J/cm2 and 0.8–1.3 GW/cm2). Even for a poled KTP, the damage threshold is higher than potassium dihydrogen phosphate or KDP (6–9 J/cm2).
