Abstract
The influence of noise in the 2-D digital processing of speckle photography fringes is investigated. By using a signal-dependent noise model, a numerical evaluation of the performance of a previously published algorithm is presented through computer simulations. An extra frequency shift due to noise appears in addition to that originated by the varying irradiance of the diffraction halo. These shifts depend on fringe density, visibility, and SNR.
