Temperature and Strain Sensing with a BOTDR: Method for Setting the Calibration Coefficients in the Field

Abstract

The knowledge of the optical fiber response is a prerequisite for accurate simultaneous temperature and strain sensing. Each installation being unique, we propose a method for tuning the fiber calibration coefficients in the field using a BOTDR.
