Abstract
We present a laser system for measurement of the depth of a polarizing film immersed in an ophthalmic lens. Its mathematical model is based on the double reflection of a laser line caused by the front surface of the lens and the surface of the polarizer. The developed system controls the laser scanning, acquires and processes reference images and provides a three dimensional mapping of the depth of the film along the entire surface of the lens in only 15 seconds. The measurement error is less than 1%.
