Abstract

In nonlinear optics, solitons can be originated by many nonlinear effects. However, the so called bandgap or Bragg solitons [1] hold their own distinct place: as they are formed by counter propagating waves in the structures with distributed back-scattering of light, e. g. modulated fibers [1a], the resulting solution can form either a very-slow moving field formation (or even a standing, "frozen" soliton [1b,c]), or fast moving (up to the speed of light) solitons.
