Abstract
The work demonstrates that appropriate data-assimilation schemes make simulations a reliable tool for filling the gaps due to satellite imagery unavailability and/or cloud covering. The ad hoc assimilation scheme allows for prediction of transport and diffusion of the bio-optical tracers from MODIS products in the Sea of Azov applied the Princeton Ocean Model. The quality of forecast is estimated and the total suspended matter in the seawater.
