Abstract
Photonic mesh lattices can be easily realized in the temporal domain and allow for the experimental demonstration of various effects of nonlinear dynamics [1]. In our experiments (see Fig. 1a), the lattice is generated by coupling two fibre loops of different length [2,3]. A roundtrip in the shorter (longer) loop is equivalent to the propagation of pulses from north-east (-west) to south-west (-east) on the 1+1D lattice (see Fig. 1b). In order to explore the nonlinear regime at medium peak power levels (< 200 mW), 4 km of dispersion compensated fibres (DCF) are inserted into both fibre loops thus providing a high nonlinear coefficient [3].
