Abstract
Waveguides produced by ultrafast laser inscription (ULI) can realize highly efficient laser systems with a small footprint [1−4]. High repetition rate femtosecond (fs) lasers inscribe index modifications within a doped insulator host gain media. Dependent on the host, these modifications could be light guiding or anti-guiding (depressed cladding) to obtain a light confining core.
