Abstract
Increasing industrial precision requires innovative and highly sensitive methods for non-contact measurement, which can be used to measure distances to objects, as well as the relevant parameters such as displacement and surface profiles. There are various optical techniques for distance measurement which are used depending on required accuracy, working range and applications. The most common techniques are based on interferometric sensors, intensity-based fiber optic sensors, triangulation-based optical sensors, time-of-flight sensors, confocal sensors [1]. In this contribution, we present the convenient and easily implementable optical displacement measurement method using the spiral-type beam rotation properties.
