Abstract
Thulium-doped ultrashort pulsed fiber lasers attract increased attention due to their broad gain spectrum extending from 1.8 to 2.1 μm [1], possibility to produce high power tunable femtosecond pulses [2] in the very interesting for many practical applications wavelength range around 2 μm [3]. In the wavelength region around 2 μm silica-based fibers typically exhibit anomalous group delay dispersion and without dispersion compensation TDF lasers are restricted to soliton operation [4]. Alternatively, elements for dispersion compensation can be implemented in the cavity, leading to the complexity of the scheme.
