Abstract
Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology is introduced for short range wireless communication due to its different advantages such as low power consumption, high bandwidth and immunity to multipath fading [1]. UWB-over-fiber (UWBoF) technology has been proposed to increase coverage range and avoid the use of wideband electronics. In our previous works [2][3] we introduced one of the simplest transmitters to generate first Gaussian derivative (monocycle) pulses for UWB signal based on directly modulated semiconductor laser and optical filtering. As it is known and also mentioned in [3], because of the high chirp of our signal, chromatic dispersion introduced in optical fiber modifies the waveform thereby second order Gaussian derivative (doublet) can be obtained after a certain length of fiber (e.g. 21 km of standard single-mode fiber in [3]).
