Abstract
As one of the promising optical network functionalities in the future transparent optical networks, multichannel wavelength multicasting (MWM) has raised recent research attentions [1-2]. It could effectively multicast the original information from multiple wavelengths to multiple groups of wavelengths, thus offering flexibility in the optical network design. Experimental demonstrations of MWM have been reported for binary or quadrature phase-shift keying (BPSK or QPSK). With the increase of the modulation level, it is crucial to suppress the introduced phase noise when designing MWM for high-order quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) formats. Here, we propose a pump-phase-noise-free MWM scheme for high-order QAM using coherent multi-carrier pumps. The experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed scheme when applying to the MWM for high-order QAM signals.
