Abstract
We present intense THz pulse generated by optical rectification (OR) in newly developed organic crystal: HMQ-TMS. For this nonlinear material the OR bandwidth depends strongly on the driving laser wavelength allowing the control of the output spectrum by changing the pump wavelength. In the experiment an optical parametric amplifier with 60 fs pulse duration and wavelength between 800 and 1500 nm in optical rectified in the HMQ-TMS. This simple setup allows THz spectra tunable over 7 octaves and THz pulse duration variable between 70 fs and 1 ps. In Fig.1 a) the spectra and b) the field autocorrelation at different pump wavelengths are shown in linear scale. Broadband THz radiation at a central frequency of 1 THz is produced by using the shortest pump wavelength while significant shift to higher frequencies and spectral broadening of several octaves in the THz frequency is observed when the pump laser spectrum is tuned towards the longest available pump wavelength (1500 nm).
