Abstract
We have demonstrated the first femtosecond-pumped Raman laser with a tuneable second-Stokes output at a wavelength range beyond the Ti:Sapphire laser. Using a tuneable Ti:Sapphire source at a pump wavelength range of 840 - 900 nm and with diamond as the Raman active medium we have produced first-Stokes output wavelengths ranging from 945 – 1030 nm and second-Stokes output from 1082 – 1200 nm. This is a synchronously-pumped external cavity Raman laser in a ring laser geometry, with the cavity length matching that of the 80 MHz pump source. Figure 1. shows the second-Stokes spectra for different pump wavelengths.
