Abstract
Diode-pumped Vertical-Extemal-Cavity Surface-Emitting Lasers (VECSELs) have already demonstrated high power, circular diffraction-limited output beams and single-frequency laser emission [1-2], They appear then to be an interesting way to achieve compact and efficient sources for atomic clocks. We describe in the following our very first results obtained from a compact tunable VECSEL emitting at 852.14 mn on the cesium D2 line.
