Abstract
To mutually coherently couple the emitters of an array of lasers of 200μm width and a pitch of 400μm manufactured by Osram-Opto-Semiconductors (SPL-BG94) we use a 16 level diffractive optic (DO) designed as a 1:25 beam splitter on quartz substrate. The seeding light from a diode laser with external cavity (Popt ≈ 50mW, M2 < 2, spectral width ≈ 1nm) passes the specially designed DO to generate 25 diffraction orders of approximately same intensity. These beams are directed into the 25 emitters of the bar. Upon exit the light is redirected onto the DO where large parts of it are coherently reunited into only one beam (c.f. fig. 1).
